Featured in The Retrospect: Haddon Home Care, located in Haddon Township, regularly provides home care services to seniors and adults with disabilities who want to remain as independent as possible while living at home. For the first time ever, they are holding a Thanksgiving Meal Drive to support the community.
CEO Kim Wagner, said, “I’ve been chatting with people recently about the pause of SNAP benefits because of the government shutdown and people facing food insecurity, and how this is going to just increase people’s food insecurity, and decided that this would be a good way for Haddon Home Care to help the community, and we wanted to make it kind of a drive-by so people could come at whatever time works best for them.”

The Thanksgiving Meal Drive will take place on Tuesday, November 25, at Crystal Lake Pool Pavilion from 1 to 4 p.m. The drive is in partnership with local chefs from Decadent Delights in Voorhees, along with Just Fork It Food Truck and Caterer, based out of Haddon Township. The food partners are donating hot meals to be distributed to those in need. Food kits will also be donated to families who prefer to be able to cook their own Thanksgiving dinner, but are in need of the resources to do so. Wagner recognizes that the date and time can be inconvenient for some, and to reach out to her to coordinate a different pick-up time if needed.
Wagner also said they are coordinating with local senior buildings to compile a list of seniors, so they can specially deliver meals to their apartment buildings. Haddon Home Care is seeking volunteers to help both on the day of the Thanksgiving meal drive and in the days leading up to the event. Since this is the first year they are hosting it, they’re not entirely sure what to expect, but they’re hoping to have a list of volunteers finalized soon.
In addition to volunteer support, organizers say their biggest need right now is monetary donations to ensure they can provide meals for everyone they hope to serve. Read more.
